Peace of Art at the State House

Boston, MA - Sponsored by Representative David Nangle, Peace of Art exhibit at the Doric Hall in the State House, has been extended to January 16th.  In this exhibit, people of opposite views and different walks of life find a common ground.  Peace of Art brings people together because it reflects upon the universal human condition.

The bitter cold and wind on January 8th, and the long wait in line in front of the State House, didn't prevent many visitors from attending the reception. Candace Allegier, economist, said that it would take much more than 0 degree weather to keep her away from such important exhibit. “Powerful” seems to be the description echoed by visitors.  That's how Attorney Karen Robinson, who walked from South Station to the State House described the exhibit. Lois Catanzaro, public relations director of Clear Channel Outdoor, said the art work belonged in the Museum of Fine Arts.

Peace of Art is the creation of artist Daniel Varoujan Hejinian. Although he's known for his Romantic Expressionist paintings, which portray a dream world full of beauty and joy, Peace of Art portrays the reality of our society.  There are layers upon layers of images folding onto each other to create a portrait of humanity.  Each line is a stanza in a pictorial poem that says all there is to be said.  In between the silences and the spaces of each drawing, images convey the sounds of our voices, some soft and timid, others strident and boisterous.

The artist suspended judgment to present to the viewer these snap shots of humanity, and we find ourselves in the folds of the artist's expression.  For more information log onto www.PeaceofArt.org, call 508-580-3151 sent e-mail to contact@PeaceofArt.org.
